Operation:

Two small pet stores selling reptiles,
small animals, and pet supplies.

Roy Wood

Number of Employees:

16
Gross Annual Sales:
$1.3 million

APet was a floundering pet supply business when Roy Wood first bought the two stores a few years ago. After an unsuccessful trial of a local company's software package to fix APet's inventory troubles, Wood bought Microsoft Retail Management System. Unlike the company's former software, Microsoft Retail Management System worked from the beginning and it has played a big role in keeping APet thriving and growing.

Some of the benefits that APet realized with Microsoft Retail Management System include:

  • Greater inventory efficiency and reliability. APet saves about 24 hours per week, or roughly $10,000 US per year.
  • Improved customer service. When a customer purchases an item, the system flashes a note to the cashier who passes along targeted advice.
  • More efficient marketing. Tightly focused campaigns gives APet better results at a lower cost.
